Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – After attending and opening the Sekuat Jati (Seribu Kupat Jatimulyo) Thanksgiving, Saturday (4/5/2024), Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM reviewed locations in the Jatimulyo area that were the subject of complaints from the public and communities. One of them is the problem of leachate in the temporary waste storage site (TPS) of RW 5 Jatimulyo.
Acting Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat revealed that his party received complaints from residents complaining about waste that was carried to the streets and residential areas when it rained. "Today I went down with the relevant agencies to see directly and find the best solution," explained Wahyu.
TPS in RW V, Jatimulyo Village actually has a leachate disposal installation to a special disposal site that has been built. But in reality, this place is not functioning properly so that during the rainy season, leachate still overflows onto the highway.
"I have asked the Head of the LH (Environmental Service) to conduct an evaluation, to maintain and manage (TPS) well. So when it rains, the garbage does not reach the side of the road, and it is made in such a way that the smell and piles of garbage can be anticipated," he said.
Wahyu is confident that with the experience so far, DLH with its technical team has the best solution to overcome this problem. From the analysis conducted, Wahyu emphasized that his party has no plans to relocate the TPS in RW V, Jatimulyo Village. "No need for relocation, just stay there. If managed properly, this TPS can function well and can involve community participation," concluded Wahyu. (cah/yon)
