Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The village heads and secretaries of the village heads from 57 villages in Malang City participated in the Public Service Development and Evaluation activities at the Village Level in the Meeting Room of Malang City Hall, Monday (6/5/2024). On this occasion, the Regional Secretary of Malang City Erik Setyo Santoso, ST, MT accompanied by the Assistant for Government and Public Welfare of the Malang City Regional Secretariat Dr. Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni, SH, M.Si along with the Head of BKPSDM and the Inspector of Malang City provided advice and direction to improve the quality of public services in the villages.

The Regional Secretary of Malang City said that it is a necessity for village officials to be able to maintain the consistency of public services for the community. "How should we maintain consistency in serving the community, so that services are also in accordance with standards and there is an increase in services from time to time," he said.
Erik emphasized that the Malang City Government also opened the door for input from the sub-districts regarding how SOPs and service procedures can be implemented so that services to the community can be better. "Don't just focus on what is currently being done, but develop service innovations to be more effective and efficient. Provide input to policy makers, so that services are faster, more concise without leaving the rules and regulations," he added.
Regional Secretary Erik said that this is in line with the direction of the Acting Mayor of Malang so that public services to the community can take place professionally and responsive to changes in the times. "Including prioritizing our efforts towards the aspect of convenience for public services. That is why, these friends who are dealing directly with the community, we provide training," Erik explained to the media crew.
Responding to residents' complaints about the service of one of the sub-district offices which was considered to have left work during service hours, Erik said that in addition to providing training, his party would also increase surprise inspections of work units to maintain consistency and sustainability of public services in each office. He also hopes that similar incidents will not happen again.
"That is why we have formed a task force whose job is to conduct spot checks, where at any time this spot check team makes sure in the field to provide assurance that no public services stop (during effective office hours)," Erik emphasized.
However, Erik said it is necessary to understand that as an ordinary human being, a State Civil Apparatus (ASN) is also inseparable from the social aspect. In fact, social relations between society and government usually also overlap.
"For example, these apparatus are also human beings, which often during working hours, for example, there are social aspects to the community that must be carried out. For example, there is an invitation or there is sad news, of course as social beings, the apparatus as part of society must also do that," Erik added.
Erik further said that the existence of this does not mean that it is legalized as a reason to leave the office during working hours in an empty state until public services stop. Erik emphasized that both must go hand in hand in balance. "Now this is what we must remind you of how to maintain the balance. Don't let the office be left empty, that's unethical, of course wrong, and cannot be justified," Erik concluded firmly.
In addition, Erik said his party would ask for clarification or explanation if such violations were found. He said there would certainly be warnings, reprimands, and even strict punishments for ASN who were proven to have committed violations. (ari/yon)
