Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Brawijaya University (UB) Malang plans to verify the data of recipients of the Indonesia Smart College Card (KIP-K) due to the widespread information on social media about KIP-K recipient students who live luxurious lifestyles.
There are three stages of the process that will be carried out. The first is to record and identify the names of students circulating on social media as well as the names reported through UB-Care. Second, continue the evaluation process of KIP-K recipients which is routinely carried out every semester. And third, call the reported students for further evaluation.
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Student Entrepreneurship of UB Malang Dr. Setiawan Noerdajasakti, SH, MH, when met on Wednesday (8/5/2024) said that so far UB is still receiving reports from student affairs, has recorded and identified the names of students who appear on social media, and received reports both directly to student affairs and through the UB-Care service.
Meanwhile, further investigation will be carried out later. After data verification and if strong indications of fraud are found, they will be invited to be confirmed and evaluated.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Sub-Directorate of Student Welfare and Entrepreneurship of UB Malang, Ilhamuddin explained that in UB the selection process for prospective KIP-K recipients is carried out in layers. First, once students register, their data will enter the Central KIP-K system, where the data has been verified by the KIP-K system.
The data is then downloaded and selected based on generally determined criteria, such as being economically disadvantaged and having potential, academic achievement. After being selected, the names that can be nominated as KIP-K recipients appear.
Next, the prospective recipient data is synchronized with the data inputted by the student during registration to UB. If the inputted data is in accordance with that inputted at the center, then the student can be nominated as a prospective recipient. Conversely, if there is data that is not synchronized, then the name is set aside from the prospective recipient and re-evaluated.
The final step is to conduct a field evaluation to determine the eligibility and suitability of candidates to become KIP-K recipients. This field evaluation is still limited to East Java due to limited resources. Meanwhile, those from outside East Java are evaluated based on system data.
At UB, Ilham said that KIP-K recipient students receive continuous coaching and evaluation every semester. Mental coaching, soft skills, character development and professional behavior, and how to behave wisely in social media.
"There is an explicit evaluation of academic performance, namely that the GPA for each semester must not be below three and that students are not allowed to take a leave of absence unless there is a serious illness," he continued.
The amount of KIP-K is Rp.950.000,- per month which is given at the beginning of each semester which is used for living expenses, accommodation costs, and book purchase costs. (UB/say/yon)
