Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – In 2024, the Malang City Government (Pemkot) distributed social assistance in the form of educational scholarships to 602 high school/equivalent students and college students. Of that number, 292 scholarship recipients each received assistance of IDR 2 million per month or IDR 24 million in a year, and 310 students received educational assistance of IDR 440.000 per month or IDR 5.280.000 in a year.
After symbolically handing over educational scholarships, Saturday (11/5/2024), Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM said that this assistance came from the National Alms Agency (Baznas) of Malang City. The recipients of this assistance are students who have above average academic abilities, are high achievers and come from underprivileged families.
"This assistance is given so that the recipient students continue to excel. In addition, so that they can complete their education until they graduate, so that in the future the dropout rate in Malang City can continue to be suppressed as optimally as possible," he added.
Wahyu said that this education scholarship has been programmed for a long time. And when there is scholarship assistance for those in need, there are criteria. "I also ask, because there is assistance, of course there is responsibility, and we hope that their achievements can be better, they can be proud and of course they can make their parents happy," he said.
In 2023, the number one person in the Malang City Government said that the number of recipients of similar assistance was 311, consisting of 112 high school/equivalent students and 199 college students. On this occasion, basic food packages were also handed over to the parents of each scholarship recipient.
