Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM together with the regional apparatus reviewed Car Free Day in the Jl. Ijen area, Sunday (12/5/2024) which is currently being prepared for Car Free Day Reborn. A number of points that are the focus of the CFD evaluation are related to parking arrangements and street vendors (PKL).

Acting Mayor of Malang revealed that to improve services for the community, the CFD concept will be returned in accordance with applicable regulations. "So Car Free Day Reborn returns the function of CFD in accordance with the regulations because it is also regulated by the Ministry of Transportation," explained Wahyu.
So in the regulation there are clear instructions on what is allowed and what is not. Be it the arrangement for street vendors, parking, to areas that must be 100 percent sterile from motorized vehicles. He emphasized that CFD Reborn must be in accordance with the rules. "It must be in accordance with the rules, free from vehicles and residents are free to exercise. The attraction of CFD is exercise, while for culinary it is a supporter. Later it will be arranged according to the rules," added Wahyu.
Likewise, the arrangement of street vendors and parking will also be arranged properly so that residents can feel comfortable. He said that his party will continue to coordinate so that all are accommodated. "We will continue to monitor the problem of street vendors and parking. We will accommodate how later those who exercise can be comfortable and parking and street vendors are also arranged properly," he explained.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang City Transportation Agency (Dishub) Widjaja Saleh Putra emphasized that his party would not comply with street vendors or parking. This was done considering that if the wishes of street vendors and parking were all complied with, of course it would not be possible to make CFD free from vehicles. "No matter how wide the place and road are, it will not be able to accommodate parking and street vendors, we will organize it, we will brake it. Then CFD with a vehicle-free philosophy will truly be realized," explained Widjaja.
He further said, according to the direction of the leadership, the arrangement of parking and street vendors, especially on Jl. Wilis and Jl. Retawu will be rearranged. In addition, street vendors will not be allowed to use tents because they take time and space when dismantling and installing. "So for example, street vendors only use tables so that the road can be wider and when the CFD activity ends, everything can be cleaned up in a short time," he concluded. (cah/yon)
