Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Uphold professionalism and improve self-capacity. That was the message conveyed by the Acting Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM when attending the Inauguration and Oath-Taking of the Sub-district Election Supervisory Committee (Panwascam) for the 2024 Simultaneous Elections throughout Malang City at the Grand Mercure Malang Mirama Hotel, Malang City, Saturday (25/5/2024).
The Acting Mayor of Malang said that the professionalism and capacity of the sub-district election supervisors can be improved through participation in training and briefings held by the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu). That way, the implementation of the Simultaneous Regional Elections which are scheduled to be held on November 27, 2024 will run well and smoothly.
"In addition to professionalism, the sub-district election supervisory committee must maintain neutrality and independence in carrying out its duties. The task entrusted to it is a mandate that must be carried out in order to realize a quality, safe, peaceful and democratic election. Therefore, integrity and commitment to carry out the mandate must be maintained properly," he said.
The number one person in the Malang City Government also advised that collaboration and synergy should always be well established. "Build good coordination and cooperation with all related parties, while also providing reports on every finding of violations that occur objectively and transparently," he said again.
In this case, the Acting Mayor of Malang emphasized collaboration with the ranks of the Sub-district Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimcam). "At the inauguration and swearing-in today, Forkopimcam elements were also present who continue to work side by side, synergize, and collaborate so that the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections will be in accordance with the provisions and expectations of the community," explained Wahyu.
Wahyu also said that Malang City Government will continue to provide support to Malang City Bawaslu, both in terms of budget and facilities and infrastructure for the success of the implementation of the activity. "The budget has been given in accordance with the provisions and has been received, including supporting facilities and infrastructure. Later we will also facilitate what is needed, of course it must be in accordance with the applicable provisions and regulations," he explained.
He further conveyed that the Malang City Government has also provided support related to the existence of the new Malang City Bawaslu office located in Sawojajar. "This was done after we checked directly in the field, the old Bawaslu office was cramped and leaked when it rained, it was a pity. Finally after being proposed it was moved to the former Malang City BPBD office in Sawojajar," explained Wahyu.
Meanwhile, the Head of Bawaslu Malang City, Mochamad Arifudin explained that this inauguration there were 15 members of Panwascam who were inaugurated, 11 of whom were old faces and four new faces. "The number of Panwascam this time is the same as during the last presidential election, and they will serve in five sub-districts in Malang City," explained Arifudin.
He explained that the term of office of Panwascam will be for eight months after the inauguration. "After this inauguration, they will be tasked with recruiting the village/sub-district election supervisory committee (PKD)," he concluded. (cah/yon)
