Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – 171 members of the Voting Committee (PPS) for the Election of Governor and Deputy Governor and Mayor and Deputy Mayor in Malang City were inaugurated and sworn in by the Chairperson of the General Election Commission (KPU) of Malang City, Aminah Asminingtyas at the Haris Hotel, Malang City, Sunday (26/5/2024). In carrying out their duties later, Aminah asked that these PPS members understand the rules, be professional, neutral and work extra, considering that their duties and responsibilities are quite large.
Aminah said that the PPS members will later be assigned to 57 sub-districts in five districts in Malang City with three people assigned to each sub-district. The PPS will support the duties of the District Election Committee (PPK), including forming the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS), mapping Polling Stations (TPS) and updating voter data.
That is why extra work will be needed, while still adhering to election rules. "So that when on duty, this PPS does not trigger friction or new problems with various parties. Both the community and sympathizers or members of political parties," added Aminah.
"The newly inaugurated PPS is expected to immediately adapt to the work culture of the implementation of the regional elections, understanding the regulations and technical details well, correctly and correctly. The smoothness and success of the PPS's work will be the capital and important key for the smoothness of further work for the PPK and KPU of Malang City," he continued.
Meanwhile, the Expert Staff for Economics and Finance of Malang City, M. Sailendra advised the newly inaugurated PPS members to maintain their dignity. Both as PPS members and as members of the community, because their existence will be in the spotlight of the community.
"Whatever happens, whatever problems arise while carrying out duties, coordinate, communicate so that it does not become something chaotic," said the bespectacled man.
In order to work well, these PPS members will later receive technical guidance (bimtek) from the Malang City KPU. So that their duties and responsibilities, namely overseeing the 2024 Pilkada process, can be carried out as well as possible. (say/yon)
