Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM together with the Malang City Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS) and related stakeholders presented the integrated stunting reduction acceleration performance virtually from the Ngalam Command Center (NCC) Malang City Hall, Thursday (30/5/2024). In his presentation to the East Java Province Stunting Reduction Acceleration Performance Assessment Panel Team, Wahyu conveyed various programs and achievements in reducing stunting cases in Malang City.
The Acting Mayor of Malang explained that stunting in Malang City continues to decline and is one of the supporting factors for Malang City to achieve the highest Human Development Index (HDI) in East Java, which is 84,00 in 2023. This figure exceeds the 2018-2023 P-RPJMD target of 82,248.
"Based on the trend of weighing months from 2018 to 2023, the prevalence of stunting in Malang City continues to decline. In 2023 it reached 8,75 percent, down from 9,1 percent in 2022. As of March 17, 2024, the stunting rate based on weighing months also fell by 0,37% compared to 2023 to 8,38 percent. Meanwhile, based on the Indonesian Health Survey in 2024, the prevalence of stunting also fell by 0,7 percent to 17,3 percent compared to 2023," he explained.
Furthermore, Wahyu said that reducing stunting rates is one of the strategic agendas that is a priority of the Malang City Government (Pemkot). Efforts to reduce stunting in Malang City are also supported by various regulations as a basis for implementing various programs and strategies.
Wahyu said that resolving stunting cases is not only done by the government but also requires support and synergy from various parties. One of them is through the Rembuk Stunting event attended by various related elements to agree on integrated stunting prevention programs and activities.
Not only that, the Malang City Government also continues to strengthen community empowerment such as by optimizing the role of the PKK and posyandu cadres. "There is also support from business entities or communities such as HIPMI (Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association) Malang City, Korem 083/Baladhika Jaya, Baznas, Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ), YDSF (Al Falah Social Fund Foundation), and HIPPAM (Drinking Water Users Association) Mandiri which are given to sub-districts, health centers, or family support teams, and Family Planning Counselors (PKB)," he explained.
Formulating preventive and mitigating measures for stunting is certainly inseparable from the availability of accurate data. Satunting (Satu Data Stunting) is a system for collecting and processing data related to stunting in an integrated manner through the Dinsos P3AP2KB (Family Assistance Team), Dinkes (health centers and integrated health posts), and hospitals in handling stunting. The Malang City Government also has a preventive function, namely by conducting socialization to prospective brides and grooms, both those who are going to get married and those who have not yet gotten married. The Malang City Government also continues to provide massive education and publication through various social media or conventional media.
Not only at the city level, stunting handling is also carried out at the sub-district, village, and health center levels. His party continues to encourage the creation of various innovations at the village and sub-district levels to reduce stunting rates. "They are the spearheads who deal directly with the community, namely in the sub-district, village, and health center. They have innovations that are developed and carried out," he concluded.
