Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – A different view was seen at the Malang City Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud), Monday (3/6/2024). In front of the office located on Jalan Veteran, it was filled with parents and students who wanted to register for elementary and junior high schools through the achievement pathway from the competition results. Although registration was open for the next three days, the enthusiasm of the participants was very high.

Head of Malang City Education and Culture Office, Suwarjana did not expect the enthusiasm of registrants to be this high on the first day of the opening of the New Student Admissions (PPDB) registration. "According to our staff, since 06.00 WIB there have been many queues and information is that some have come since 05.00 WIB. During the three-day registration, students and parents will collect competition certificates and choose the schools they will go to. Then the verification and recommendation process will be carried out by Malang City Education and Culture Office and the verification team," he explained.
For the competition itself, Suwarjana said there were many, such as sports, religious, cultural, science and mathematics olympiads. The verifiers were from the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag), cultural figures and also collaborated with the Malang City Education Council.
He further said, for the 2024 PPDB quota, around seven thousand students can be accepted at Public Middle Schools in Malang City. This number is half of the number of graduates in Malang City, which is 13 thousand students. For those who are not accepted at Public Middle Schools, prospective students can register at private middle schools, Islamic boarding schools, or junior high schools.
"We really appreciate the enthusiasm of these applicants. However, we are referring to the existing quota. So it is impossible for us to exceed the quota that has been determined and this must be realized by parents and students. Thus, for those who are not accepted later, they already know the reason," he concluded. (say/yon)
