Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Malang City is one of the areas passed by approximately 1.800 Tour De Panderman racers, Saturday (8/6/2024). Participants passed through a cycling route starting from Surabaya through Malang City to Batu City and competed for the 2024 East Java Regional Police Chief's Cup.

Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM also welcomed the arrival of participants, including the East Java Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Drs. Imam Sugiarto, M.Si in Malang City. With the backdrop of Malang City Hall and the beauty of Tugu Square, the cyclists took a short break before continuing their journey to Batu City.
Wahyu said that there were many comments from participants who enjoyed the natural beauty along the road they passed. Of course this is also an indication that Malang City is attracting attention. Thus, according to him, Malang City has great potential to develop sports tourism.
"Sport tourism helps a lot in introducing our tourism. They come not only to exercise but also to travel. So coming here is not only to participate in sports events but also to travel. Moreover, sometimes they also bring their families," said Wahyu.
Acting Mayor of Malang emphasized that the Malang City Government is serious about developing sports tourism, so that several plans to improve sports facilities are being carried out. "We will try to improve facilities that support sports tourism, so that sports lovers can enjoy it more. Moreover, next year, Malang City will host the 2025th East Java Porprov (Provincial Sports Week) in XNUMX, of course this will support sports tourism," he continued.
For your information, Tour de Panderman was held to celebrate the 78th anniversary of Bhayangkara. In addition, this event is also expected to be able to embrace all cycling enthusiasts as well as become a place for coaching East Java cycling athletes, as well as developing sports tourism in East Java.
In this activity, the East Java Regional Police also collaborated with the East Java Indonesian Cycling Association (ISSI) and various cycling communities in East Java. The high enthusiasm of the cyclists to cycle more than 100 kilometers was also rewarded with an award from the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) as the initiator of the bicycle race with the most participants.
On this occasion, the Acting Mayor of Malang also accompanied the East Java Regional Police Chief in providing assistance in the form of prosthetic legs to three representatives of the recipients. This activity was initiated by the Malang City Police in collaboration with various parties.
