Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Ahead of Eid al-Adha 1445 Hijriah which falls on June 17, 2024, a number of inspections of sacrificial animal sales centers continue to be carried out by the Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Malang City Food Security and Agriculture Service (Dispangtan). As seen at one of the sacrificial animal sales centers on Jalan Sulfat, Purwantoro Village, Blimbing District, Saturday (15/6/2024).

Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM also directly inspected. He stated that this inspection activity was carried out as an effort to ensure that sacrificial animals in Malang City are in the safe category, both in terms of availability, needs and health. By conducting inspections at sacrificial animal sales centers, people who will buy sacrificial animals will feel safe and comfortable.
"Alhamdulillah, from the inspection at several sales locations seen by Dispangtan, there were no sacrificial animals that had indications of certain diseases. Earlier, we also put stickers to indicate that the animals were healthy, and those who bought them also felt safe," he explained.
Likewise, the Head of the Malang City Agriculture and Food Security Agency, Slamet Husnan Hariyadi, SP, stated that the physical condition of animals at the sacrificial animal sales centers throughout Malang City is checked to ensure that the animals sold are included in the category of animals fit for sacrifice in accordance with applicable sharia and provisions.
"We are currently checking the physical health of the animals to see whether they are included in the category of livestock that are suitable to be sacrificial animals. Alhamdulillah, there are no indications of diseases such as foot and mouth disease (FMD) or Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in sacrificial animals in Malang City," he explained.
In addition to conducting inspections, the Malang City Government also provides a service for storing sacrificial animal slaughter at the Malang City Slaughterhouse (RPH). This service is primarily intended for mosques and prayer rooms that receive many sacrificial animals. Ahead of Eid al-Adha, the Malang City Slaughterhouse has also increased the number of Halal Slaughterers (Juleha) including veterinarians who monitor the health of sacrificial animals.
This year, there are a total of 96 stalls selling sacrificial animals throughout the city of Malang. This number is almost the same as last year. Meanwhile, for the number of sacrificial animals sold, until this news was published, Dispangtan recorded a total of 4.177 sacrificial animals with details of 267 cows, 3.638 goats, and 272 sheep.
