Preserving Tradition, Sukoharjo Residents Parade Sacrificial Animals Before Slaughter

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – It has become a tradition for residents of Sukoharjo Village during Eid al-Adha to parade sacrificial animals around and then end at the Noor Mosque, Kidul Pasar Sukoharjo Village, Klojen District. This tradition is certainly a moment awaited by local residents and attracts the attention of road users.

Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM who also attended the Eid al-Adha celebration at the mosque located on Jl. Prof. Moh Yamin, Monday (17/6/2024) appreciated the local wisdom that is still strongly attached and maintained by the community.

"This is a tradition that we must maintain and preserve. In addition, there is one verse where before the animal is sacrificed it must be pleased first. The way to please it is by being circled, paraded around the village and after that slaughtered. This tradition has been around for a long time," he explained.

Wahyu said that in addition to being a culture, this tradition is also in accordance with religious provisions that must be carried out. In fact, the number one person in the Malang City Government revealed that it is possible that this kind of event can become one of the attractions of religious tourism.

The Acting Mayor of Malang also appreciated the process of slaughtering sacrificial animals carried out at the Noor Mosque which had observed the procedures. "This mosque is good, because it has made stages of the slaughtering process. I ask the Head of the Agriculture and Food Security Agency to also make it like this and we will perfect it for us to distribute in places where sacrificial animals are slaughtered. So that everyone knows that there is an SOP (Standard Operating Procedure)," he concluded.

On this occasion, every sacrificial animal to be slaughtered has also been examined by a team from the Animal Husbandry Division of the Malang City Food Security and Agriculture Service. Thus, the health and safety of the sacrificial animals are ensured. (ari/yon)
