Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – The 2024 East Java Karate Provincial Championship (Kejurprov) of the Indonesian Karate-Do Sports Federation (FORKI) held at the Ken Arok Sports Hall, Malang City, Friday (28/6/2024) received an enthusiastic welcome. Approximately 2.500 karate athletes from various regions competed fiercely in the championship which was attended and opened by the Acting Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM.

Acting Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat expressed his welcome and appreciation for the East Java FORKI Karate Provincial Championship in Malang City. According to him, this is very good for athletes from Malang City and East Java in general to hone their abilities to further develop. "I encourage you. As the host, we hope that this championship can be held well," Wahyu hoped.
He added that through holding provincial championships like this, apart from being a place to compete to be the best, it is also a place for coaching to see how far the athletes from various regions in East Java have developed.
Moreover, in 2025, Malang Raya will host the implementation of the XNUMXth East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov). "Keep maintaining sportsmanship. Hopefully, with this championship in the future, it can produce quality athletes who can make East Java and Indonesia proud, especially from Malang City," he added.
Meanwhile, the Head of FORKI Malang City, Supardi, admitted that he was pleased with the number of participants who participated. "This is also an event to hone the abilities of Malang City athletes for the upcoming East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) 2025, as well as to find new seeds," explained Supardi.
The championship itself was held at GOR Ken Arok for three days, starting from Friday (28/6/2024) to Sunday (30/6/2024). (cah/yon)
