Breadfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Various efforts have been designed by the Malang City Government (Pemkot) to meet the target of providing clean drinking water for the community. One of the commitments is realized by strengthening synergy with the Association of Drinking Water Users (HIPPAM) whose existence is very strategic in serving the community in terms of providing water availability.

To strengthen the synergy that has been built, Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM together with related staff had an audience with HIPPAM Management throughout Malang City at the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Areas Service (DPUPRPKP) of Malang City, Wednesday (3/7/2024).
"We need this HIPPAM because the clean water access that has been running so far is not 100 percent. One of them is from Perumda Air Minum Tugu Tirta Malang City and there is also clean water access from HIPPAM. The hope is that in line with the strengthening of this synergy, the target of providing clean drinking water for the community can achieve 100 percent clean water access," explained Wahyu.
Currently, the total number of residents accessing HIPPAM in Malang City is approximately 14 thousand families. With 48 drilled wells managed by HIPPAM and two HIPPAMs under construction, this is a very potential asset and must be maintained in terms of quality, quantity, continuity and affordability.
"Because HIPPAM is a business entity run by community groups in the region, so there needs to be routine coaching and mentoring so that they understand the technical and non-technical aspects. Hopefully this can run well, including in running drinking water management and if there are obstacles, they can be resolved immediately," he said.
In order to facilitate access to clean water for the community, after coordinating with the provincial government and several districts/cities as well as existing fiscal policy regulators, in the future his party will also prepare a mayoral regulation that is expected to ease the burden of groundwater tax. "Earlier, several problems were also conveyed, and thank God we can solve them. HIPPAM in Malang City has been good in its implementation including its management and the quality of clean water can be maintained," he concluded. (yul/yon)
