21st AUG 2024 Archery Qualification, Indonesian Contingent Performs Brilliantly

That was what was captured when the Indonesian Archery contingent competed in the 21st Asean University Games 2024 which was held at the Cakrawala Stadium, State University of Malang, Wednesday (3/7/2024). The Indonesian contingent in this sport fielded 15 athletes consisting of eight athletes in the 70m Recurve number and seven athletes in the 50m Compound number.

The coach of the Indonesian National Student Team, Subarno, revealed that in the qualifying round, his athletes performed extraordinarily. In the men's sector, they were able to achieve I, II, III rankings, while in the women's sector they managed to become the first and third best, while in the second ranking was achieved by Malaysian female athletes. "In terms of ranking, the men's is indeed very satisfying according to expectations, as well as for the women, the chances are still good," explained Subarno.

With a good start in the qualifying round, Subarno hopes that in the next round Indonesian athletes will appear more enthusiastic and sweep the championship. "Hopefully in the next round our archers can play more enjoyably and can be the best in the competition round, both individual, team and team," Subarno hoped.

Meanwhile, the CEO of the AUG 2024 Referee Commission, Jantan Pangestu Insani, said that today's competition is the qualification for the Recurve 70 m and Compound 50 m categories. The Recurve number that has been completed in this morning's session is the Recurve number, while the afternoon will complete the Compound category qualification round. "Today is full qualification, while tomorrow the individual and team eliminations will begin," said Jantan.

The ASEAN-wide archery championship at UM this time was attended by 45 male and female athletes from four countries, namely Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar. "Seeing the good performance of Indonesian archers in this event, we are optimistic that the Indonesian National Student Team archery athletes can become champions," Jantan said confidently.
