Acting Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat together with the Chairperson of the Malang City DPRD I Made Riandiana Kartika showed the signed regional regulation document

Acting Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM in his speech expressed his appreciation for the ratification of this draft regional regulation. According to him, this is a form of government support in an effort to educate the nation's life. In the future, the rules regarding Islamic boarding schools will be regulated through the Mayor's Regulation so that it can be explained more technically regarding the rules that will be enforced.

"Because it has been regulated in the regional regulation, later it will be technically regulated in the mayoral regulation, we will sit together again to technically explain the rules starting from educational institutions, infrastructure for Islamic boarding schools, including assistance provided for Islamic boarding schools," he said.

Wahyu added that Islamic boarding schools in Malang City need to be supported and developed through policies on Islamic boarding school facilities according to their needs, and based on national and regional education and development policies.

Currently, Wahyu explained that the Malang City Government has played an active role in providing assistance to Islamic boarding schools through grant funds. In the future, providing assistance will be easier, because there are already official regulations regarding the implementation of Islamic boarding schools in Malang City. "Support from the City Government is given in the form of grants given to Islamic boarding schools and later it will be more flexible because there are already regulations," he added.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Malang City DPRD, I Made Riandiana Kartika, said that the Islamic Boarding School Implementation Regional Regulation was part of the community's aspirations that had been received by the DPRD since 2019. With the ratification of this regional regulation, according to him, this is part of how the government facilitates formal and non-formal educational institutions.

"Previously, there were several community submissions for the management of Islamic boarding schools that were hampered by regulations. But with this regulation, there are no more obstacles, later everything (will be regulated) in the grant mechanism, entering the Kesra Section," he said.

Made added, through this regulation, the government can also carry out its role optimally, not only providing assistance, but also including in the role of supervision, especially to respond to the concerns previously expressed, namely the issue of radicalism in Islamic boarding school environments.

"The government can come in and fully supervise the implementation of Islamic boarding schools in Malang City. Of course, the first thing to do is that the Malang City Government will record all Islamic boarding schools in Malang City, so that all get the same opportunities and assistance," he concluded.
