Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM inspected one of the cigarette factories on Jalan Mayjen Sungkono, Kedungkandang, Malang City, Thursday (4/7/2024). This inspection was to ensure the productivity of the workers and ensure that the workers had received their rights properly.
At this moment, the number one man in the Malang City Government not only saw the workers making and packaging cigarettes, but also communicated directly regarding various matters, such as wage payments and health protection.
The result, said Acting Mayor Wahyu, so far there have been no problems and everything is going well. Wages are paid according to work results and have been registered in BPJS Kesehatan membership.
"However, we urge those who do not have BPJS Kesehatan, to utilize the services of the nearest health center or hospital. Health is very important, because these workers are susceptible to illness triggered by the smell of cigarette mixtures," he explained.
Wahyu further said that this cigarette factory is one of the employment fields that absorbs a lot of labor or is labor-intensive. "From this condition, what is the need of cigarette entrepreneurs and workers can be communicated with the Malang City Government," he said.
"For example, for business permit applications, as long as all requirements are met properly, we will assist fully, without having to wait long. Therefore, every visit like this we invite the relevant regional apparatus," concluded Wahyu. (say/yon)
