Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The Social Service, Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning (Dinsos P3AP2KB) of Malang City held an event entitled 'Autism Summit' at the former Dinsos Office on Jalan Sulfat, Malang City, Friday (5/7/2024). The resource person from Malaysia who was present provided supplies and knowledge for people with disabilities and their accompanying parents.
This event is to provide a forum for people with disabilities and parents to voice their opinions regarding various problems and experiences they have had so far, so that the best solutions or treatment can be sought.
Head of Dinsos P3AP2KB Malang City, Donny Sandito after the event revealed that the Disability Family Forum in five sub-districts in Malang City aims to involve the disabled. Thus, these disabled people in the future can work even though they have limitations.
Based on data from the Dinsos P3AP2KB of Malang City, there are 575 people with sensory autism disabilities, 661 with intellectual disabilities, 1.474 with physical disabilities, and 514 with mental disabilities. In Malang City, there are already special schools for autism so that they can get a decent education. "On this occasion, children with autism expressed their desire that they can live independently," added Donny.
Likewise, parents also think about what will happen to their children with autism if they no longer have parents, or parents. Regarding this, Donny said that his party will try to help as much as possible. "We will involve universities, Vocational High Schools (SMK) and Job Training Centers (BLK) to provide them with supplies," explained Doni.
On this occasion, the Dinsos P3AP2KB of Malang City distributed a number of assistance from the East Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) and the Suwarso Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) from Solo which was previously assessed and recommended by the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos). This assistance is in the form of cash of Rp300 thousand which will be given every month, cooking equipment assistance, and two motorized pedicabs.
"From the amount of assistance distributed, we have previously submitted and been accepted by the East Java Provincial Government and the Ministry of Social Affairs, so we hope that children with autism in the future can be more empowered and independent, especially from the businesses they run," he concluded.
