Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Social Service, Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning (Dinsos P3AP2KB) has made various efforts so that people with disabilities, especially autism, can work and live independently with their limitations.
This was emphasized by the Head of the Malang City P3AP2KB Social Service, Donny Sandito after the 2024 Autism Summit event at the former Social Service Office on Jalan Sulfat, Malang City, Friday (5/7/2024). To realize all of this, in addition to the distribution of assistance from the East Java Provincial Government and the Ministry of Social Affairs that has been proposed so far, the Malang City P3AP2KB Social Service has also taken various real steps.
"We work together with the Wonojati Job Training Center (BLK) in Singosari, SMKN 5 Malang City, SMK Telkom Malang City and several universities in Malang City. Routinely and alternately, the disabled participate in sewing, cooking and electronics training. Several people who previously underwent work internships at the BLK have even been channeled and got jobs according to their skills," explained Donny.
For those in several vocational schools and colleges, the goal is the same, namely to provide skills for the disabled and children with autism so that later they will have the future as expected. "In Malang City there is also a special school for autism, so that these various steps can have a positive impact on them," he continued.
Outside of these institutions, Dinsos P3AP2KB does not close the opportunity if there are other parties who want to join in helping in the empowerment of the disabled. "Of course we would be very grateful, because it can lighten our burden," he said.
Until now, based on data from the Dinsos P3AP2KB of Malang City, there are 575 people with sensory autism disabilities, 661 with intellectual disabilities, 1.474 with physical disabilities, and 514 with mental disabilities. "This data can change, because not all parents submit their data to the Malang City Population and Civil Registration Service (Dispendukcapil) for various reasons. So we will coordinate again later to ensure the data," he concluded. (say/yon)
