Malang City Government's Commitment to Prevent Stunting with Good Sanitation

Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Residential Areas Agency (DPUPRPKP) held a Community Development and Empowerment activity for Malang City in the Development of SPALD (Domestic Wastewater Management System) at the Islamic Center Building in Malang City, Saturday (6/7/2024).

This activity is one of the manifestations of the Malang City Government's commitment to accelerate the reduction of stunting rates and poverty alleviation. Infrastructure also receives attention from the Malang City Government, such as improving the quality of sanitation, clean environment and several things that support interventions for prevention and reduction of stunting in an integrated and sustainable manner.

"One of the programs on how to control stunting and reduce poverty is directly related to sanitation. A good environmental area has an impact on health and encourages the welfare and economy of the community," explained Wahyu.

Wahyu further stated that related to the condition, in Malang City 86 percent have been well served and 14 percent need further handling. So this commitment must continue to be strengthened, one of which is through the Special Allocation Fund (DAK) from the Central Government of Rp 8,7 billion for the sanitation program.

"We will boost this 14 percent not only from the APBD, APBN through its DAK, we will also try from CSR. So the attention of several companies to be able to enter, yesterday during the CSR Musrenbang we also conveyed it," he explained.

The assistance for two sub-districts is the construction of Communal IPAL and 11 sub-districts in the form of individual septic tanks, namely 54 families in each sub-district with a total recipient of assistance from the Sanitation DAK fund of 734 families. One of the priority areas is Lowokwaru District, including by looking at population density and those who do not have it. (yul/yon)
