Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM had a direct dialogue with city public transportation (angkot) drivers in the Chatting with City Transportation (Ngangkut) activity at the Arjosari Terminal in Malang City, Tuesday (9/7/2024). Accompanied by the Head of the Malang City Transportation Agency (Dishub) Widjaja Saleh Putra, Wahyu absorbed the various aspirations conveyed.
In the activity initiated by the Malang City Transportation Agency, the Acting Mayor of Malang said that this year his party will immediately make improvements. Specifically, his party will revitalize city transportation and add supporting facilities for comfort, such as adding AC, music, drivers wearing uniforms and departing on schedule. In addition, he mentioned that by collaborating with a third party, the drivers are planned to be paid monthly, trying to be equal to the regional minimum wage of Malang City.
"We want the public transportation problems in Malang City to be resolved. Because we know that public transportation in Malang City is declining and its direction is increasingly unclear. There are several things related to our communication with the Ministry of Transportation in order to resolve public transportation. We are trying with Buy The Service (BTS) and it has been done in several cities," added the number one person in the Malang City Government.
So that no parties are harmed, especially online transportation, there will also be route arrangements. "So everything runs well. Angkot drivers get a decent income, and on the other hand online transportation continues to run as it should," he explained.
All these steps, Wahyu said, are targeted to be realized as soon as possible this year with the hope that public transportation will remain in demand, will not be less competitive than online transportation, and drivers will have a more prosperous life. Until now, there are 1.116 public transportation, 3.000 drivers, and 200 roadworthy public transportation. (say/yon)
