Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – In order to popularize sports and find talented young talents, the 2024 Malang City Community Sports Festival (FORKOT) I held by the Malang City Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) was officially opened by the Acting Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM at the Ken Arok GOR, Malang City, Wednesday (10/7/2024).
FORKOT is an activity that aims to coordinate and recruit high-achieving activists who can then be delegated to provincial, national and international sports festivals. "I appreciate and fully support what KORMI Malang City has done, because some of the events that have been carried out are extraordinary," explained Wahyu.
Wahyu said that the Regional Community Sports Festival (FORDA) of the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) I of East Java (Jatim) was held in Malang City in 2023. Then currently FORKOT I Malang City is also the first to be held in East Java.
"FORKOT I Malang City was carried out as preparation for the second FORDA in Surabaya in November 2024. Yesterday in FORDA I, Malang City as the host was in second place and its score was also slightly different from Surabaya City. And now there are preparations from the first FORKOT in Malang City which was organized by KORMI Malang City in preparation for the second FORDA in Surabaya," he explained.
Wahyu is optimistic that Malang City will be able to rank first in FORDA II later. He said that the Malang City Government is very supportive starting from the implementation, coaching and later during the implementation of the upcoming FORDA.
Meanwhile, the Head of KORMI Malang City, Ir. H. Sofyan Edi Jarwoko, said that FORKOT I 2024 was attended by 2.000 activists with 27 Sports Organizations (Inorga) which would be held in 14 match venues facilitated by the Malang City Government.
"Later for FORDA II in Surabaya there are 37 Inorga so we have to build and give back spirit to the Inorga who have not participated in the festival. We will try our best, of course we can't do it alone, we have to do it together because this is a sport that was born from the community. Therefore, it needs support from all parties," he concluded.
Also present at the opening ceremony with the theme 'Towards a Fit Indonesia 2045' were the General Chairperson of KORMI East Java for the 2021-2025 term, Hudiyono, representatives of Forkopimda, Malang City DPRD, and Heads of Regional Apparatus within the Malang City Government. (yul/yon)
