The financial assistance amounting to IDR 4.369.880.0000 was symbolically handed over in the Malang City Hall Meeting Room, Tuesday (16/7/2024) and came from the Malang City Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).

Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM said that the amount of assistance for each political party was not the same, depending on the number of valid votes obtained in the Legislative Election in February 2024. "From the number of valid votes obtained, this is multiplied by IDR 15 thousand. The multiplication factor of this assistance is very large and is classified as the largest in Indonesia," he said.

Wahyu said that the political party financial assistance was given in two stages. This time, the assistance was given for January-August 2024. The second stage for assistance for September-December 2024 is planned to be given in October or November 2024.

Of this assistance, 60 percent will be allocated for political education by each political party. The remaining 40 percent can be used for internal party needs, such as office repairs and making party attributes. "With the improvement of political education, it is hoped that the level of public participation in every democratic party will always be high, at least 80 percent," said the man from Malang City.

He further said that political parties have a strategic role in providing positive contributions to the growth of democracy in Indonesia. "Among them are encouraging the creation of political reform and democratic institutions as an effort to build the image of Indonesian democracy," said Wahyu.

The provision of this assistance was appreciated by political party administrators, as conveyed by Tri Agus Budi Prasetyo who admitted that he would maximize the assistance. Especially for political education for the younger generation so that they are not apathetic towards the world of politics or the existence of political parties.

"Because the legislative and presidential elections have been completed, and now the regional elections, of course we will usually have a meeting with the internal party ranks every month. So there is a kind of communication to the party administrators and the branch level," he added.

Meanwhile, one of the political party leaders, Ernanto Joko said this assistance would be additional ammunition to embrace all groups in the democratic party process. Including for political education so that the level of public participation is high, especially in this year's regional head elections.

"Political education is not far from the principles of Pancasila. How the cadres are at the forefront in maintaining their religion, how they can also be at the forefront in humanity, care and so on," he explained. (say/yon)
