Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The Public Welfare (Kesra) Section of the Malang City Regional Secretariat in collaboration with UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang (Maliki), the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) of Malang City and the Office of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) of Malang City held a Workshop on Strengthening the Capacity of Mosque-Based Family Corners at the Grand Mercure Malang Mirama Hotel, Tuesday (23/7/2024).

Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM who was present and opened the activity in his speech said that this collaboration is very good for supporting family resilience in Malang City. "This is a follow-up to our collaboration in September 2023 to improve the function of mosques other than as places of worship," explained Wahyu.
The presence of the initiator of Family Corner from UIN Maliki Prof. Dr. Hj. Mufidah Cholil, M.Ag in the activity attended by the administrators of 25 mosques in Malang City is one of the efforts to provide good and optimal education.
"We have committed to developing the function of the mosque as a strategic place for the development and empowerment of the people, so it is not only a function of worship but also functions as a place for family development through the Family Corner. That is why the Malang City Government supports this program that pays attention to family development and resilience," he explained.
Wahyu also said that his party continues to strive to create families in Malang City that are sakinah, mawadah, and warahmah that are full of happiness. "With the creation of such a family, it will become the foundation for the creation of a harmonious and prosperous society," he concluded.
Meanwhile, the initiator of the mosque-based Family Corner, Mufidah Cholil, said that this program was designed and running in 2023 as a result of good collaboration between UIN Maliki, DMI, the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Malang City, and the Malang City Government. "There is a strong joint commitment to the development of Family Corners in mosques in Malang City," explained Mufidah.
At the beginning of this program, there were ten mosques that had Family Corners. Over time, now in Malang City there are 25 mosques that have them. That is why the workshop held for three days provided training and provision to the participants so that they can develop this family corner.
It was mentioned that in order for the Family Corner program to run well, there needs to be strengthening in terms of human resources and institutions. Some of the services available at the Family Corner include pre-marital education, family consultation and counseling, family case assistance, and there is socialization about a sakinah, mawadah, warahmah family.
