Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Supports Tourism and Creative Economy Development in Malang City
Malang City – Malang City has in fact captivated the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf)/Head of the Indonesian Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kabaparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno. Not only because of its beautiful natural landscape, but also because of its creative potential.
"We will continue to help promote it. Currently, I see two superior sub-sectors, namely culinary and fashion. We will continue to encourage other sub-sectors to develop further, such as music, film, animation, and crafts," explained Minister Sandiaga during his visit to Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan, Sunday (28/7/2024).
The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy also greatly appreciates the achievements of Malang City which successfully won the Best City I Predicate for the National Regional Development Award (PPD) from the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency.
"When I first came here, I saw something special here. I walked along the river, then to the market, and the community was very participatory. I am very grateful that the program that we are promoting in ADWI 2022 has yielded results at the national level. I also encourage this to be able to rise to the international level by participating in various tourism village competitions at the ASEAN, Asia, and world levels later," he said motivatingly.
Minister Sandiaga said that the tourism development strategy to increase the length of stay of tourists is by holding various events. His party also encouraged the Malang City Government to hold various activities to increase visits to Malang City, such as through sports tourism events. "Malang must also have international class events, be it sports, arts and culture, music, films, or other sub-sectors, especially since it is supported by the MCC. It's time for us to create world-class events," he concluded.
Responding to the direction of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM stated that Malang City has committed to developing sports tourism. "Sport tourism has become our focus. So with this sport tourism, it will support tourist visits in Malang City. In 2025, we will also host the XNUMXth East Java Porprov which of course will also strengthen our sports tourism," he explained.
"We also have MCC which is a place to develop 17 creative economy sub-sectors in Malang City. Hopefully, we can improve the facilities again, because we have a target to become a UNESCO World Creative City in 2025. We certainly really hope for support from the Minister," Wahyu concluded.
