Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – On the occasion of the commemoration of the death of 35 student fighters who were members of the Indonesian Student Army (TRIP), Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM invited the younger generation, especially junior high school, high school and college students to learn about and remember their struggle against the invaders on Jalan Salak (Jalan Pahlawan TRIP Malang) on July 31, 1947.

This was conveyed by the Acting Mayor of Malang when attending the TRIP Student Fighters' Struggle History Discussion at the Brawijaya Museum in Malang, Monday (29/7/2024) which carried the theme 'Koeteroeskan's Struggle Until the End of Time, I Won't Be a Colonial Student'.
"We held this seminar as part of a series of events to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Indonesian Student Army's battle. We invited junior high, high school and college students, with the hope that in addition to reminiscing, they will also learn about the history of Malang City. Sometimes many of them do not know about the history of Jl. Pahlawan TRIP," said Wahyu.
The death of TRIP is one of the proofs of the struggle of the youth, especially in Malang. The fighting spirit of the TRIP heroes, according to him, is full of examples that should be emulated by the next generation of the nation.
"Today, coincidentally, there is a series of activities from the 77th Mastrip (Mas Tentara Republik Indonesia Pelajar), a discussion inviting all students from junior high schools, senior high schools and college students. By presenting speakers to provide explanations including to social studies teachers, including history teachers so that later they can explain to their students," he explained.
Wahyu invited all students, especially in Malang City, not to forget the history of the struggle and to emulate the patriotic spirit of their predecessors who died to achieve Indonesia's independence from the colonizers.
"Mastrip, they are student soldiers, of course today's students must be able to continue how the student soldiers fought at that time. If in the past the struggle was against the Dutch, now the struggle is how to make these students become quality students for Indonesia Emas 2045," he concluded. (yul/yon)
