Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – A number of commodities were observed to have experienced price increases in the fourth week of July 2024. This was stated in the National Regional Inflation Control Team Coordination Meeting (Rakor TPID) which was held online from Jakarta, Monday (29/7/2024).
Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Commissioner General Pol. Drs. Tomsi Tohir, M.Si, said that commodities that experienced increases in many regions in Indonesia included cayenne pepper, cooking oil and rice. Specifically, Tomsi reminded regions to pay more attention to the increase in the price of cayenne pepper in 202 regencies/cities.
"I ask the regions to anticipate the price increase of the three commodities, especially cayenne pepper. Of course, it must be overcome in each region, because cayenne pepper is not something that is difficult to plant and grow," said Tomsi.
Responding to this, the Assistant for Economy and Development of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, Ir. Diah Ayu Kusuma Dewi, MT said that based on information from the Malang City Central Statistics Agency (BPS), a number of commodities were indeed monitored to have increased in price, but the price increase was still considered quite safe.
Diah added that the prices of these commodities will continue to be monitored to see what steps need to be taken in the future. "Based on information from BPS, (the price of) chilies has increased, rice has increased, cooking oil is somewhat stable. In the near future, it will be monitored by the Basic Food Availability and Price Development Information System (Siskaperbapo), market prices are monitored there. Later, if it continues to increase in one week, we will intervene. For now, it is still fluctuating, up and down," explained Diah.
Meanwhile, for chili commodities, Diah said she would ask the Cooperatives, Industry and Trade Service (Diskopindag) and the Food Security and Agriculture Service (Dispangtan) to follow up on the Inter-Regional Cooperation (KAD) that has been carried out with Lumajang Regency to anticipate further increases in the price of cayenne pepper commodities in Malang City.
