Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – As a great nation, Indonesia has a long history full of struggles and sacrifices. In every episode of history, the spirit of nationalism has always been the main foundation that drives this nation. Nationalism is not only about love for the homeland, but also how to understand and appreciate all aspects that form the identity of the nation, one of which is the rupiah currency.
Several things were conveyed by the Acting Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM when attending an event initiated by the Representative Office (KPw) of Bank Indonesia Malang entitled 'Strengthening Nationalism Through Love, Pride and Understanding of the Rupiah at the Brawijaya Museum, Jalan Ijen No. 25A, Wednesday (31/7/2024).
"The Rupiah is one of the symbols of the country's sovereignty, which also drives the wheels of the nation's economy. The Rupiah is also a legacy of ancestors who have fought for the independence of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," said Wahyu.
Maintaining stability and trust in the rupiah, said the number one person in the Malang City Government, is a shared responsibility. However, it must be realized that the form of public appreciation for the rupiah is still relatively low, this occurs in almost all ages. "The low appreciation for the rupiah can be seen in the habit of treating paper rupiah money, namely by crumple it, fold it, staple it, and even cross it out," said Wahyu.
This has become a bad habit and must be stopped by increasing public awareness. "Therefore, through this dialogue to strengthen nationalism of love, pride and understanding of the rupiah, I would like to invite all attendees to jointly strengthen their commitment to supporting and maintaining the stability of the rupiah," he said.
He further advised that all of this can start with simple things, such as always using the rupiah in every transaction, maintaining the quality of paper and metal money, and understanding the importance of the role of the rupiah in the national economy.
"Let us together strengthen our commitment to support and maintain the rupiah, and with a strong spirit of nationalism, we can contribute to maintaining economic stability and supporting the progress of a better Indonesia," he concluded. (say/yon)
