Kedungkandang (malangkota.go.id) – Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM opened the Selection of Candidates for the Caliph of the 2024 Malang City Quran Recitation Competition (MTQ) at the Islamic Center Building, Saturday (3/8/2024).
"I would like to welcome all MTQ selection participants who will take part in the selection. Today we will witness and appreciate the abilities and dedication of our children in the field of Al-Quran recitation," said Wahyu in his speech.
Wahyu explained that in interpreting a religious competition for the younger generation, the MTQ event is an opportunity to show and network interests, talents, abilities and self-competence. In addition, it is also a vehicle to strengthen faith and increase love for the Quran.
"Hopefully this activity can be one of the strategic methods. In addition to being a medium to hone the ability and expertise of reading the Quran for qari and qariah, this MTQ activity is also a very constructive means for spreading Islam which has positive values for all Muslims. At the same time, it is an important means of building ties," he explained.
Wahyu also hopes that this event can become a means of education and learning for all participants to be more active in reading the Al-Quran and at the same time understanding the meaning contained in it so that they can apply it in their daily lives. (yul/yon)
