Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – On the occasion of National Veterans Day 2024, which is commemorated every August 10, the Indonesian Veterans Legion (LVRI) of Malang City held a pilgrimage and laid flowers at the Suropati Heroes Cemetery (TMP) in Malang, Saturday (10/8/2024).

Present and leading the pilgrimage and flower-laying procession this time was the Acting Mayor of Malang, Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM, who was present with the ranks of the Malang City Government, the ranks of the Malang City LVRI, and representatives of the Forkopimda ranks.
Acting Mayor of Malang said that the pilgrimage and flower-laying were held to commemorate the struggle of the fallen heroes. "We are here to feel the struggle," said the number one person in the Malang City Government.
He emphasized that it is a shared obligation to continue to honor and appreciate the services of heroes, including veteran fighters. "A civilized country is one that never forgets the contributions of its fighters," he said again.
Wahyu said, thanks to the role of veterans, Malang City and the Indonesian Nation can feel and fill independence. "To fill this independence, we must continue to introspect ourselves to do the best for the Community, nation and country," said Wahyu.
Regarding the submission of the Malang fighter Hamid Rusdi as a National Hero, he said that it is still in process. "Yesterday it was hampered because there were several requirements that had not been completed, now they have been completed. Hopefully it can be approved soon as a National Hero," he concluded.
