Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Insan Budi Utomo University (UIBU) collaborates with e-Sport Indonesia (ESI) Malang City to hold an e-Sport Festival entitled IBU University Chancellor's Cup at the UIBU Campus, Jl. Citandui, Purwantoro, Malang City, Saturday (10/8/2024) to Sunday (11/8/2024).

Acting Mayor of Malang Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat, MM when met after opening the event, Saturday (10/8/2024) said that this championship was held as a step to find athletes with a champion mentality and also as a preparation event for the 2025 East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) in Malang City.
Every athlete or team that participates in this championship requires good skills, concentration and strategy in order to become a winner. Then, the winners in this championship will take part in the selection at ESI Malang City. Several of the best teams will take part in training camps to be better prepared to participate in various levels of championships. More specifically, it is hoped that the Malang City contingent can win at least two gold medals at the 2025 East Java Porprov.
Given the high enthusiasm of the participants, ESI Malang City will hold a similar championship more intensively, especially for students. In this championship, the organizing committee has prepared a trophy prize and coaching money totaling Rp14 million. "This is extraordinary," said Wahyu.
Meanwhile, the Head of ESI Malang City, Nurkholis Sunuyeko said that this championship was attended by 670 participants and divided into 83 teams. These participants came from students, college students and the general public from Malang Raya and Surabaya. The categories competed were Mobile Legend and Free Fire.
"Because this is also related to the preparation of Porprov, and therefore at this time it is also a selection event so that we know the potential of Malang City athletes to prepare for Porprov. In the previous Porprov we lost gold. The previous year we got two golds, and for Porprov 2025 we can get at least two golds," hoped the man who is also the Chancellor of UIBU. (say/yon)
