The coordination meeting, led and opened by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City, Erik Setyo Santoso, ST, MT, discussed various matters related to the distribution and supervision of fertilizers and pesticides.

Coordination Meeting of the Fertilizer and Pesticide Supervision Commission (KP3)

Although Malang City is not an agricultural city, Erik said that the existing agricultural land contributes significantly to providing food commodities needed by the community. That is why his party in this coordination meeting wants to know and ensure the availability of fertilizers, especially subsidized fertilizers and pesticides to support food security.

From Dispangtan data, currently in Malang City the total land area is 986 hectares, with details of 788 hectares planted with rice, 183 hectares planted with secondary crops and eight hectares unplanted. The number of farmers in Malang City according to Simultan data is 4.500 people, while according to Electronic Definitive Group Needs Plan (E-RDKK) data, there are 2.562 people. For farmer groups, there are 186 while farmer group associations (Gapoktan) are 28 groups.

Regional Secretary Erik added that the price of subsidized Urea fertilizer per kilogram is IDR 2.250,-, non-subsidized IDR 7.000,-. Subsidized Phonska fertilizer is IDR 2.300,-, non-subsidized IDR 10.000,-. "The progress of subsidized fertilizer distribution from January to July 2024 for both types of fertilizer from an allocation of 1.277 tons, 405,56 tons were realized and there was a remainder of 821,44 tons," he explained.

"We will monitor the existence of this fertilizer together and KP3 in its scope of movement also coordinates with the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) on a macro scale. This includes the role of the Food Task Force, so that food availability for Malang City residents is maintained and its distribution meets expectations," explained Regional Secretary Erik.

In order to suppress and prevent scarcity or soaring prices, this subsidized fertilizer is sold through agents or official stores appointed or in collaboration with the Malang City Government, in this case the Agriculture and Food Security Agency. Such as the rights of the Tani Mukti kiosk in Sukun, UD Ludini Jaya in Blimbing, UD Sekar Wulung in Lowokwaru, Anugerah Tani Store in Arjowinangun, Rejeki Store in Cemorokandang and KUD Subur in Kedungkandang.

"We will take various anticipatory steps, and we also appeal to kiosk owners not to sell fertilizer above the Highest Retail Price (HET). If any irregularities are found, sanctions will be imposed according to applicable regulations," Erik concluded. (say/yon)
