Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – Head of the Malang City District Court, Rosihan Juhriyah Rangkuti, SH, MH led the inauguration and oath-taking procession of 45 members of the Malang City DPRD for the 2024-2029 term in the Plenary Meeting Room of the Malang City DPRD, Saturday (24/8/2024). The Chairperson of the Malang City DPRD 2019-2024 I Made Riandiana Kartika was appointed as the temporary chairperson and Abdurrochman as the temporary deputy.
The inauguration was attended by the ranks of the Malang City Government, the Malang City Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and family members of the inaugurated council members. Acting Mayor of Malang, Iwan Kurniawan, ST, MM in his official speech read the remarks of the Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs.
The Acting Mayor of Malang conveyed several things, namely regarding the implementation of the Democratic Party which has so far been relatively smooth and orderly. "From this, we can prove that the Indonesian nation is a nation that upholds democratic values, so that it can carry out 13 elections that run orderly and smoothly," he said reading the Minister of Home Affairs' speech.
For this achievement, the Ministry of Home Affairs expresses its gratitude and highest appreciation to all Indonesian people who have exercised their constitutional rights in the Democratic Party on February 14, 2024.
He further stated that what needs to be observed is conceptually and legally formal, the position of the DPRD is an integral part of the regional government. The character of the DPRD within the framework of the Republic of Indonesia has a different character from the position of legislative institutions in federal countries that adhere to the absolute separation of state powers, down to the local or regional level.
Therefore, Law No. 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government stipulates that the DPRD is an element of regional government administration that has an equal partnership with the regional head.
"Every DPRD member is elected in an election whose nomination is through a political party, in this case of course there are differences with regional head elections where it is possible for candidates to advance through an individual route," he explained again.
This condition certainly creates a condition where DPRD members have a very strong bond as an extension of the political party. However, what needs to be underlined is that no matter how big the interests of the political party that supports them, they should place public interests above personal or group interests.
At the end of his speech, the Acting Mayor of Malang, representing the Malang City Government and the Ministry of Home Affairs, did not forget to congratulate the 45 newly inaugurated DPRD members. (say/yon)
