Breadfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Controlling inflation and reducing stunting rates are priority programs of the Malang City Government (Pemkot). Various programs continue to be rolled out as an effort to address these two strategic issues, including implementing the release of egg and chicken meat commodities as well as the symbolic handover of food assistance to Families at Risk of Stunting (KRS), Thursday (29/8/2024).

Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City Erik Setyo Santoso, ST, MT said that the activity carried out at Perumda Tugu Aneka Usaha (TUNAS) was a distribution of food assistance for KRS. "This is a form of concern from the Malang City Government to reduce stunting rates so that the nation's generation in Malang City will be healthier and become a golden generation in the future," he explained.
Combined with the symbolic handover of aid, the release of food supplies outside the region was also carried out, which is also an effort by the Malang City TPID to control inflation. "Currently, we can send chicken eggs and chicken meat to several areas in East Java and NTT. This means that in Malang City, this basic macronutrient protein is available in sufficient quantities, its affordability is represented, and its price is also affordable for residents," said Erik.
Similarly, the Head of the Malang City Food Security and Agriculture Service (Dispangtan) Slamet Husnan Hariyadi, SP explained that this activity aims to reduce the burden of expenditure on food aid recipients as well as an effort to eradicate poverty and food insecurity. In addition, this food aid is expected to be an intervention to reduce stunting. The distribution of basic necessities outside the region is also a step to control food price fluctuations and inflation.
"The number of KRS aid recipients in Malang City is 4.821, and today it was implemented in Sukun District with a total of 1.415 KRS which will be symbolically given to KRS from Gadang Village and Ciptomulyo Village. The aid commodities are one kilogram of chicken meat and ten chicken eggs," explained Slamet.
Meanwhile, Director of Perumda TUNAS Dodot Tri Widodo said that this is the second project obtained by his party after similar activities were carried out in the previous year. "For NTT, we distributed 373.000 packs (containing 10 eggs per pack) and 706 tons of chicken meat distributed to several areas in East Java. This will later be targeted at KRS," he explained.
Not alone, in distributing this aid, the Malang City Government collaborated with partners, namely Perumda TUNAS, IDFood, PT Rajawali Nusindo, and PT Pos Indonesia. (ari/yon)
