Coordination meeting of the Malang City Traffic and Road Transportation Forum at the Shalimar Hotel

Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City Erik Setyo Santoso, ST, MT when opening FLLAJ said that Malang City as the second largest city in East Java has an influence on community activities as well as the development of a very dynamic situation in the field of traffic and road transportation in Malang City.

"So in order to provide traffic comfort in Malang City, appropriate solutions and strategies are needed regarding the implementation of the best traffic system to reduce congestion," explained Regional Secretary Erik.

Therefore, Regional Secretary Erik said that this meeting is important as a forum for mutual coordination, sharing ideas, and formulating the right strategy to answer the challenges. Furthermore, Regional Secretary Erik said that in today's FLLAJ meeting there were several things that were of concern, including those related to the evaluation of traffic engineering management on Jalan Buring and at Simpang KH Malik Dalam - Mayjen Sungkono.

"After some time ago we have done engineering in the area which started since August 26, 2024, but there are still many people who do not understand and know. So it is important to extend the socialization so that we can see the results of the engineering, whether it has been able to reduce congestion as we expected," he explained.

Second, related to the optimization of cycle time at Simpang Kelud. "Considering, Simpang Kelud is one of the intersections that has a high traffic volume in Malang City and connects several strategic points, both for economic, social, and educational activities. Therefore, optimizing cycle time at this intersection is our main priority in creating smooth traffic flow
cross," he explained.

This effort is not only to adjust the traffic light cycle time. But also a strategic step to ensure that the mobility of Malang City residents can run more efficiently, congestion is resolved, and road user safety is increased. Furthermore, related to the return of road functions, namely on Jalan Mayjen Sungkono, Jalan Muharto, Jalan Zainal Zakse and Pasar Gadang.

"If it is felt that the use of roads in the area is not in accordance with its designation and causes obstacles to the effectiveness and smoothness of traffic flow. Then it needs to be regulated and returned to its function," he said.

However, Regional Secretary Erik emphasized and asked the relevant apparatus to take a humanistic approach to the community around the area so that they are willing to support this program and maintain its conduciveness.

"Related to this, I hope that this forum can be a medium for all of us to have a dialogue, express opinions and innovative ideas as an effort to present the best and sustainable solution to traffic problems in our beloved city," he concluded. (yul)
