Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City, Erik Setyo Santoso, ST, MM attended the opening of the City Championship Badminton Championship (Kejurkot) 'Kapolresta Malang City Open 2024' at the Platinum Araya GOR Malang City, Monday (2/9/2024). The Regional Secretary of Malang City appreciated this championship because it was not only directed at efforts to improve, develop a person's interests and talents, but was also an effective medium in finding young athlete seeds.
In this way, Erik said, talented athletes with quality will be netted and at the same time it will be an effort to improve physical health, foster a spirit of sportsmanship and it is hoped that it will be able to arouse a sense of pride for the beloved region, namely Malang City.
"Therefore, I hope that the participants will make the most of this event. Not only seeking victory, but more focused on as a medium to always build bonds of togetherness, brotherhood, unity and oneness, as well as a foothold to advance from time to time in order to achieve the best achievements that can be proud," he added.
Erik further said, to be able to achieve brilliant achievements and become a professional, of course everyone needs adequate facilities, starting from prime physical condition, various techniques must be mastered, and no less important is a strong will and persistent spirit.
For that, through this Kejurkot moment, his party invites to revive the spirit of advancing the badminton sport in the country so that it can continue to raise Indonesia's positive image on the world sports stage while also making the name of Malang City proud. "Moreover, in 2025, Malang City together with Batu City and Malang Regency will be appointed to host the East Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov)," he explained.
"Of course, we do not only prepare facilities, but there needs to be readiness from athletes from various sports, including badminton, to be able to provide honor in the form of the best achievements as hosts. In this regard, I would like to thank the organizing committee and all parties who have provided support for the implementation of this activity," added Erik.
Erik said that this championship can also be a medium to strengthen coaching for Malang City badminton athletes. "In October there will also be the East Java Provincial Championship (Kejurprov), so this event is very effective in measuring the readiness of Malang City athletes," said Erik.
Kejurkot 'Kapolresta Malang City Open 2024' was held from 2-6 September 2024 and was attended by 300 participants from 16 clubs registered with the All Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) Malang City. In addition, this championship was also attended by 150 participants from veterans aged 40 years and over and adult doubles. (say/yon)
