Malang City Enters 6 Cities with the Best IMDI at National Level
Jakarta (malangkota.go.id) – For the first time, Malang City received an award and entered the six regencies/cities with the best national Indonesian Digital Society Index (IMDI) out of 514 regencies/cities throughout Indonesia. Malang City scored 52,64 above the 2024 National IMDI measurement results of 43,34.

This award was presented directly by the Minister of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Arie Setiadi, which was received by the Head of the Malang City Communication and Informatics Service (Diskominfo), Muhammad Nur Widianto at the Launch of the 2024 Indonesian Digital Society Index (IMDI) Measurement Results in Jakarta, Tuesday (9/9/2024).
Based on the results of the 2024 IMDI value measurement, Malang City received the '2024 Very High IMDI Category Score' Award as a form of appreciation from the Ministry of Communication and Information for the efforts made in building Indonesia's digital society.
The Ministry of Communication and Information, through the Communication and Information Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM Kominfo), has been conducting IMDI measurements since 2022. IMDI is a measurement of the level of competence and skills of the community in using digital technology, both in everyday life and work.
"IMDI is designed based on the G20 Toolkit for Measuring Digital Skills and Digital Literacy as an implementation of measuring the condition of Indonesia's digital society based on regions from the national, provincial to district/city levels," explained Minister Budi Arie.
IMDI aims to provide an overview of the existing conditions of Indonesia's digital society with four Pillars of the Indonesian Digital Society Index including Infrastructure and Ecosystem, Digital Skills, Empowerment and Employment.
"IMDI data collection was carried out by collecting data from related ministries/institutions and through a survey of more than 17.000 individual respondents and 10.000 industry respondents spread across 514 regencies/cities in Indonesia," explained Minister Budi.
The IMDI trend of Malang City increases every year, in 2022 the IMDI score of Malang City was 49,07 which increased in 2023 to 51,59. This value increased again in 2024, namely 52,64.
Separately, the Acting Mayor of Malang, Iwan Kurniawan, ST, MM said that this achievement is real evidence of Malang City's dedication to realizing an inclusive and competitive digital society.
"Malang City is extraordinary. Therefore, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all parties who have contributed to this achievement. Let us also make it a motivator to continue working better. And be wise in using various digital platforms," he concluded. (yul/yon)
