Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Food Security and Agriculture Service (Dispangtan) held free rabies vaccinations and free castration of male cats at the Malang City Animal Health Center (Puskeswan) on Jl. Sarangan, Malang City.

Head of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Division of Malang City Agriculture Service, drh. Anton Pramujiono revealed that this vaccination was held in the framework of World Rabies Day 2024 which is commemorated every September 28. "We always hold free rabies vaccination activities like this routinely every year," explained Anton, Monday (23/9/2024).
Free rabies vaccination will be held on September 23-26, 2024 with a limited quota of 150 doses. "Meanwhile, castration of male cats will be carried out on September 28, 2024 at the Malang City Animal Health Center," said Anton.
Anton said that this activity is a preventive measure so that pets do not get infected with rabies. "Even if there are any infected, it can be treated immediately so that it does not have fatal consequences," he explained again.
Regarding the rabies case in Malang City, Anton said that so far it has not been found. Even so, he appealed to remain vigilant so that Malang City can be truly free from rabies.
This vaccination program has also received a good response. One of them is Berdeta, a dog owner who participated in the rabies vaccination. He is very happy that the Malang City Government is holding this free animal vaccination program. According to him, this free vaccination program is very helpful for animal owners or breeders. "I am very happy that my dog got the rabies vaccination. This is very good to ensure that the health of pets is truly healthy," explained Berdeta.
Berdeta hopes that vaccination programs like this can be done more often to help pet owners ensure their pets are healthy. With massive activities like this, it is also one of the efforts to realize the target of Indonesia rabies-free 2030. (cah/yon)
