Breadfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Residential Areas Agency (DPUPRPKP) of Malang City held a Declaration and Signing of a Joint Commitment to Realize a Slum-Free Area in Malang City at the DPUPRPKP Office of Malang City, Jl Bingkil, Tuesday (24/9/2024).
Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City Erik Setyo Santoso, ST, MT who led the declaration and signing of this commitment revealed that this activity is one of the innovations carried out by the Malang City DPUPRPKP to organize slum areas in Malang City and requires synergy with various parties.
"Slum areas are dynamic. This means that during the initial identification, the slum areas are detected in any area, then treated, meaning they are removed from slums to non-slums. But over time if not properly maintained, they can become slums again," Erik explained in his direction.
That is why DPUPRPKP Malang City involves many parties to collaborate and synergize to align the vision and mission so that they are in harmony in running the program. "So the programs from the existing regional apparatus are collaborated into a community empowerment program," he explained again.
For example, from the smallest thing, for example, throwing garbage in its place and according to the time. "Then, what is no less important is the involvement of the pentahelix and hexahelix aspects, starting from academics, entrepreneurs, communities, various government agencies, including citizens. This is what Mr. Dandung (Head of DPUPRPKP) united into one sustainable innovation unit, so that the arrangement of slum areas can be synergized and completed massively," he explained clearly.
Meanwhile, Head of DPUPRPKP Malang City Drs. R. Dandung Julhardjanto, MT said that in 2023, there will be 133,62 hectares of slum areas in Malang City spread across 27 sub-districts in Malang City. "The target is that in 2028, the 27 sub-districts will be slum-free areas. The second target is that no new slum areas will emerge," explained Dandung.
Dandung said, to realize this, the handling carried out is different in each region, and of course it takes time. This declaration also involves many parties, because the problem of slum areas is not only related to infrastructure. (cah/yon)
