Breadfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) held a Disaster-Prone Communication, Information and Education (KIE) Socialization in the Sukun District Hall, Malang City, Monday (30/9/2024).
Head of Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Division of BPPD Malang City Dra. Khabibah, MM said that this activity was carried out to provide education to the community so that they understand the early signs of disaster and know the actions that must be taken.
"This activity is a space exercise, with the aim of educating the public that if an earthquake occurs, the victims and impacts that occur can be minimized," he explained.
Khabibah said that this space rehearsal was attended by participants from representatives of five sub-districts in Malang City, consisting of the general public and vulnerable groups, namely the elderly, disabled, pregnant/breastfeeding mothers, and others.
Khabibah advised not to be careless even though Malang City has been relatively safe so far. He also reminded that the Malang City area which is near the South Coast is very likely to be affected by disasters such as earthquakes.
That is why disaster mitigation education is provided so that the community increasingly understands what to do when a disaster occurs. The speakers presented at this activity were from the BPBD of East Java Province. "We hope that after participating in this activity, the participants can share knowledge with their families and the community in their surroundings," said Khabibah. (cah/yon)
