Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – Malang Autism Summit 2024 (MAS24) was officially held from 3-5 October 2024. The activity held at the Malang Creative Center (MCC) was attended by hundreds of participants from various regions. It can be said that this event is the first international autism activity in Indonesia with the presence of various speakers from within and outside the country.
Representing the Malang City Government (Pemkot), the Assistant for Government and Public Welfare of the Malang City Regional Secretariat, Dr. Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni, SH., M.Si. welcomed this activity. According to her, this activity is an important moment to provide support for special children. "We hope that this activity can create a more positive change in behavior in order to support children with special needs," she explained when attending the opening of the activity at MCC, Thursday (3/10/2024).
Ida hopes that with therapy by experts, she hopes it can help special children to be more independent and adapt to the environment. "Collaboration in this forum is important, especially for parents who must guide their children to be better and develop their potential," she continued.
Meanwhile, Clinical Director of Penawar Special Learning Centre Malaysia, Dr. Ruwinah Abdul Karim said that parents and teachers have an important role in providing attention to children with autism.
"They just ask for love and acceptance, but often the world gives them little of what they deserve. This event is dedicated to providing information and education to individuals, families, and professionals who are struggling with autism issues," Ruwinah said.
This event presents several experts and practitioners in the field of autism with various information related to research information and progress in handling autism. This activity also becomes a place to share experiences, challenges, and joys and sorrows in educating children with autism. This activity is packaged in various activities, starting from seminars, workshops, training, exhibitions, to screening.
"Our hope is that you will gain valuable experience, useful knowledge, can be an inspiration and become part of a community that truly cares. I believe that if we work together we will be able to and will give children with learning disabilities the opportunity to learn a better life," he concluded. (ari/yon)
