Malang City Government Ready to Maximize Utilization of Shophouses in Kayutangan

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government (Pemkot) through the Cooperatives, Industry and Trade Service (Diskopindag) is ready to maximize the utilization of empty shophouses in the Kayutangan Heritage area. Head of Diskopindag Malang City Dr. Eko Sri Yuliadi, S.Sos, MM said that this step was taken as an effort to maximize the economic turnover in the Kayutangan area.

He revealed that currently there are several inactive shophouses whose status is private assets. Diskopindag will also immediately take steps to coordinate with shophouse owners to reactivate their shophouses so that the wheels of the economy can start turning again.

"Later we will immediately coordinate and invite the owners of unused shophouses. We invite them to discuss and coordinate, so that they can be maximized in economic activities, including how to revive the economy in Malang so that it can continue to move," he explained when met, Wednesday (9/10/2024)

Eko said that later his party will also look for a solution regarding whether the management of the shophouses that will be reactivated will attract investors or not. "For now, we will try to discuss the position and condition of the shophouses. If later there is a meeting and where the direction is, then we will provide a solution. Whether it is cooperation, looking for investors, or what," he explained again.

In addition to the discourse to activate inactive shophouses in the Kayutangan Heritage area, Eko said that his party plans to discuss the same thing with the owner of the Malang Plaza building whose status is stalled after the fire in 2023. His party hopes that later the buildings in Malang City whose status is inactive can be immediately utilized and functioned, especially to support the movement of the economy.

"We will also coordinate with Malang Plaza to find a way out, meaning that in Malang there are no buildings that are not functioning. It used to be the center of the economy, so we will find a solution," he concluded. (iu/yon)
