Congratulations! Malang City Passes UCCN National Selection, Ready to Become a World Creative City!

In a piece of good news that has just been received, Malang City has successfully passed the Final selection stage for the Proposing of Nominations for Members of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) in 2025. This achievement places Malang City as one of two cities in Indonesia that are eligible to be submitted to UNESCO.

By adopting the concept of “Malang City of Media Art”, Malang City has successfully captivated the National Selection Committee and demonstrated its great potential as a world creative city. This concept is considered unique and innovative, and is able to represent the cultural richness and creativity of the Malang community.

Malang City's success in this selection is a real proof of the city government's commitment to developing the creative sector and making Malang a reference center for education, technology, art and culture. Various efforts have been made, such as the construction and activation of the Malang Creative Center (MCC) which is a place for creative actors to work and collaborate.

"Praise be to God, Malang City has been declared to have passed the nomination for the UNESCO Creative City Network (UCCN) Membership Nomination Proposal in 2025 by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. Thank you for the support, hard work and spirit of collaboration from the Acting Mayor of Malang, the Dossier Team, members of the Creative Economy Committee, all Regional Apparatus within the Malang City Government, community colleagues and actors creative industry and all stakeholders who have accompanied this long process," said Dwi Rahayu SH, MH, Head of Bappeda Malang City and Chair of the Creative Economy Committee (KEK) of Malang City.

"The opportunity to be nominated as a UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) Member is proof of Hexahelix's real collaboration in Malang City that needs to be maintained and strengthened, including in preparing all matters related to the assessment needs by UNESCO in 2025. Malang City is one of the Districts/Cities in Indonesia that is worthy of being proposed as a member of the UCCN for Media Arts," said Harry Waluyo, UCCN National Selection Team.

This achievement is expected to encourage more parties to be actively involved in developing the creative ecosystem in Malang City. Thus, Malang City can be increasingly known as an innovative, creative, and inspiring city in the eyes of the world.
