Malang City Government Holds Ceremony for the 79th Anniversary of East Java Province

Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Government held a Ceremony to Commemorate the 79th Anniversary of East Java Province in the front yard of Malang City Hall, Saturday (12/10/2024). At the ceremony which was attended by all ranks of Forkompinda and followed by participants from the ranks of the Malang City Government, TNI-Polri, and student representatives, Acting Mayor of Malang Iwan Kurniawan, ST, MT acted as the ceremony inspector.

In his message, the Acting Mayor of Malang said that this commemoration is a moment for various parties to strengthen harmonious and solid cooperation in encouraging economic growth. In addition, it is also the right moment to improve welfare, as well as maintain the stability of security and conduciveness of the region as an effort to realize East Java as a safe, peaceful, and serene province, with a prosperous and blessed society.

Next, reading the mandate of the Acting Governor of East Java, Iwan said that East Java Province has succeeded in making achievements, appreciation and awards, both nationally and internationally as well as proud development achievements in various sectors.

This achievement is real evidence of optimism, joint movement, joint work and joint struggle whose impacts have been felt directly by the entire East Java community. One of them, East Java Province was able to reduce the poverty rate which recorded a history of reaching a single digit of 9,79% as of March 2024.

In addition, East Java also contributed the highest decline in the poor population nationally by 206,102 people and contributed 30,34% to the decline in national poverty. Likewise, Extreme Poverty has dropped significantly from 4,40% in 2020 to 0,66% as of March 2024.

Various positive achievements conveyed by the Acting Mayor of Malang include the soaring number of independent villages, the achievement of the Human Development Index which is in the high category, positive economic growth, and positive achievements in various sectors. "Of course, these achievements are more motivation, considering the development journey for the welfare of the community and the success of the Vision of the Long-Term Regional Plan (RPJPD) of East Java Province for 2025-2045, namely 'East Java with Morals, Advanced, Global, and Sustainable' is waiting," said Iwan reading the mandate of the Acting Governor of East Java.

Meanwhile, regarding the relocation of the Capital City of the Republic of Indonesia to the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN), the Acting Governor of East Java emphasized that East Java must become a National Bridge Builder by positioning itself as the 'New Archipelago Gateway' through intense collaboration with many parties. "This is not without reason, because East Java has become a connector for Eastern Indonesia, where 19 Sea Toll routes originate from East Java, supported by the existence of eight airports, 37 public ports, 12 Industrial Areas (KI), two Special Economic Zones (KEK), and one Halal Industrial Area," he added.

East Java is also one of the Center of Knowledge of Education in Indonesia which has 795 Universities, 4.058 SMA, SMK, SLB institutions, both state and private and the first foreign university in Indonesia will be opened in East Java. This will certainly help boost the quality of human resources in East Java.

The Acting Governor of East Java also invited all levels of society to take advantage of this strategic position to unite together to advance East Java as per the theme of the 79th Anniversary of East Java, namely 'East Java United Together to Advance'.

On this occasion, it was also emphasized about the synergy between the government, the TNI/Polri security forces, the KPU, Bawaslu and all related stakeholders and the community in overseeing the current regional leadership transition. As well as the importance of encouraging the level of community participation in the series of processes of the upcoming Simultaneous Regional Election Democracy Party.

Not to forget, in his message, the Acting Governor conveyed his sincere gratitude and highest appreciation to all parties. Primarily, to the predecessors who have laid a solid foundation for this province. "Thanks are also conveyed to all members of the East Java Provincial DPRD, and Forkopimda, Regents/Mayors, as well as the ranks of the provincial and district/city government bureaucracy, TNI, Polri, vertical agencies, entrepreneurs, economic actors and all East Javanese people who have made great contributions to the success of governance and development in East Java," concluded Iwan reading the message of the Acting Governor of East Java.
