Starfruit (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) held a capacity building activity for the Disaster Rapid Reaction Team (TRC) at the Savana Hotel, Malang City, Tuesday (15/10/2024). The activity was carried out for two days, October 15-16 with participants from across sectors.

Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City Erik Setyo Santoso, ST, MT who was present to open the activity welcomed this activity. According to him, this training is a strategic step in order to improve preparedness and response to various potential disasters that may occur. "Developing the capacity of cross-agency rapid response teams is very important to ensure that we can provide a fast and effective response in dealing with emergency situations," he explained.
Malang City can also be said to be a disaster-prone area. According to him, this is influenced by various factors, including natural factors, non-natural factors, and human actions themselves. When a disaster emergency response occurs, a number of challenges will arise, ranging from time constraints, very urgent needs, and various obstacles in coordination that do involve many institutions in emergency response.
"This condition demands more intensive and synergistic coordination to facilitate the disaster management process. Therefore, it is very important to assign a Rapid Response Team from various agencies, which works in accordance with the BNPB Rapid Response Team Standard Procedure so that the response can be carried out quickly and effectively," he explained.
Through this activity, Erik also hopes that all members of the Malang City TRC can improve their skills, knowledge, and coordination between agencies so that they can respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations. "Therefore, I ask all participants to follow this activity seriously and actively. Take advantage of this opportunity to exchange experiences, learn from speakers, and strengthen cooperation between agencies," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of BPBD Malang City Drs. Prayitno, M.AP revealed that the increase in the capacity of the TRC across sectors of Malang City was carried out to develop the capacity of the TRC owned by Malang City, improve the skills and preparedness of the disaster management team. "With the main focus on cross-sectoral training and collaboration to be better at anticipating disasters," explained Prayitno.
Prayitno said, through this training, his hope is to increase the team's response and effectiveness in dealing with emergency situations. "Next is the establishment of synergy and cross-sector collaboration. That's why the participants of this activity are from across sectors according to the TRC formation decree," explained Prayitno.
