Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – In the midst of increasingly open information flows, the Malang City Government is committed to providing public information to meet the needs of today's society who seem thirsty for information. The openness of public information in Malang City is strengthened by a legal umbrella that guarantees the public's right to access transparent information from the government, while also regulating the obligations of public bodies to provide information openly and accountably.
This was conveyed by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Malang City, Erik Setyo Santoso, ST, MT when explaining the performance of the Malang City Government's Public Information Disclosure in the interview assessment stage as a stage of Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) of Public Information Disclosure for Public Agencies in East Java in 2024 online from the Ngalam Command Center (NCC) Room, Malang City Hall, Tuesday (15/10/2024). Previously, the Malang City Government had passed the SAQ (Self Assessment Questionnaire) and Factual Verification (visitation) stages.
In his presentation to the panelists from the Information Commission, Erik revealed that openness of information has now become a necessity. "Openness of information is no longer something that can be blocked. Even the limits of information that is excluded are getting thinner. If there used to be so many, now the number can be counted on the fingers," he said.
Erik emphasized that to ensure the implementation of public information disclosure, the Malang City Government has included it in the legal standing document, which has also been outlined in regional legal products. Various strategies have been carried out so that this public information disclosure can be increasingly felt by the public. Various methods of socialization and education continue to be carried out, starting from face-to-face methods to the production of various informative content on the Malang City Government media channels, even education through games is also carried out. The Malang City Government also conducts evaluations and assessments to motivate so that the concern of regional apparatuses regarding public information disclosure increases.
"We even provide assistance if there is an information dispute that must now be faced and is not something to be afraid of. The existence of information disputes will also enrich us, open references and strengthen our understanding of the types of information," he explained.
Regional Secretary Erik also mentioned that the commitment to openness of public information must continue to be strengthened to create public trust in the government. "So how is the legal standing to become a sustainable policy supported by budgeting, and instilling concern for the apparatus to be able to increasingly enrich references and understanding in public information management and its openness," he concluded.
