As is known, the establishment of Santri Day was initiated from the history of the struggle of the santri in fighting for Indonesian independence through their jihad resolution. From there, the spirit of the santri continues to be tried to be spread by the Malang City Government through the holding of a series of events leading up to the peak of the 2024 National Santri Day celebration.

"That's why today's activities are carried out by the Kesra Section to start the commemoration and also to strengthen the spirit of Islamic boarding school students who have a role from independence to filling future development," he explained.

Not only the struggle to achieve the independence of the Indonesian nation, Erik said the role of the santri was very large in all aspects of life. According to him, the santri have extraordinary provisions, both in terms of knowledge, religion, and the formation of good moral character. According to him, by having good morals, the santri can also provide maximum contribution to the development of the nation and state, especially the city of Malang. "Whether it is by having a career in government or the private sector, or as an entrepreneur who develops a business. This means that their role is almost in all aspects of life," he explained again.

Erik further said that the spirit of spreading goodness that needs to be possessed by students needs to adapt along with the progress of the times. In the current era of globalization, according to him, students must also be technology literate. Therefore, the use of current information technology is very important to do and not only use conventional media, especially in spreading goodness. Even so, Erik also reminded students not to erode their faith and morals.

"Nowadays, various information is also coming to us. I am very sure that students who have received physical and mental spiritual training will later be able to become strong agents of change who will be an inspiration for the young generation in our country," he concluded. (iu/yon)
