Klojen (malangkota.go.id) – After previously successfully winning the 2023 Eco Pesantren award at the Malang City level, Bahrul Maghfiroh High School, which is under the auspices of the Bahrul Maghfiroh Islamic Boarding School, is now looking towards Adiwiyata 2025.

The principal of Bahrul Maghfiroh High School, Miftahul Bahri, said that Bahrul Maghfiroh Islamic Boarding School is very focused on instilling a love for the environment in its students. "With guidance from the Malang City Environmental Service (DLH) and the Faculty of Agriculture, Brawijaya University, we are optimistic that in 2025 our school will become an Adiwiyata School," explained Bahri, Thursday (17/10/2024)
.
This is proven by the existence of environmental conservation activities that are clearly displayed at the Bahrul Maghfiroh Islamic Boarding School. This 4,5-hectare Islamic boarding school has eight injection wells that have been built since 2019 and now the results can be felt. Previously, when the dry season came, the Bahrul Maghfiroh Islamic Boarding School often lacked water, but now with the injection wells, the availability of water at the boarding school is very abundant.
"The presence of injection wells in Bahrul Maghfiroh Islamic Boarding School means that rainwater is not wasted, but is absorbed into the ground and collected in the boarding school environment. This is what makes our Islamic boarding school currently not having water difficulties anymore," explained Bahri.
In addition, supported by the abundant water it has, Bahrul Maghfiroh Islamic Boarding School now also cultivates koi and catfish, aquaponics, organic vegetables, and oyster mushrooms. The abundant water support also makes the boarding school environment that used to be arid now so fresh with many trees growing abundantly.
This certainly helps improve the air quality in the boarding school environment which greatly supports the health of all students and the community in it. "Bahrul Maghfiroh Islamic Boarding School has been designed in such a way that it has a Green Open Space (RTH) so that the environmental quality is truly maintained," explained Bahri.
Likewise for the handling of waste in the cottage, he said that currently the existing waste is managed in such a way that it brings benefits. For organic waste is processed into compost, for non-organic waste is reprocessed into useful products.
Meanwhile, for lighting at night, Bahri said that currently Bahrul Mahgfiroh Islamic Boarding School has also used solar cells that rely on solar energy. Likewise, the existing buildings have been designed to be energy efficient.
Bahri also emphasized that environmental conservation at Bahrul Maghfiroh Islamic Boarding School is not only carried out during competitions. But it has been instilled in students from an early age so that it continues and becomes a lifestyle. (cah/yon)
