Lowokwaru (malangkota.go.id) – The Malang City Regional Inspectorate conducted a socialization of corruption prevention to media crews who are members of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Malang Raya, Tuesday (29/10/2024). The event, which was held at the PWI Malang Raya Secretariat Office on Jalan MT Haryono Blok 1A Number 10 Dinoyo, was attended by journalists from various media platforms.
Secretary of the Malang City Inspectorate, Siti Mahmudah, said that this socialization agenda is a mandate and guideline for the 2024 Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Monitoring Center of Prevention (MCP) program. "So the Malang City Regional Inspectorate must conduct socialization of corruption prevention to the mass media," he explained.
The woman in hijab said that journalists must participate in preventing corruption through the news they produce. "That way, the public as readers can know what and how to prevent corruption," she added.
More concretely, Mahmudah said that journalists must write according to the facts and disseminate correct information. Then, if there is information from the news published in the mass media, Mahmudah said that her party as an inspectorate could follow up on complaints of alleged corruption.
"Some things that can trigger corruption include lifestyle, because there is an opportunity, position, economic conditions and weak internal supervision. That is why we all have to be self-aware," added Mahmudah.
For the corruption category, he said it includes abuse of authority in the procurement process of goods and services, job promotions, gratification, fraudulent acts and conflicts of interest.
"Therefore, we have the Saber Pungli Team which is a team for monitoring and preventing corruption. This team consists of various elements, TNI, Polri, Prosecutor's Office, academics and Bakesbangpol. If the public smells any indication of corruption, they can report it to the Saber Pungli Team whose office is next to the Inspectorate at Malang City Hall," concluded Mahmudah. (say/yn)
