Jakarta (malangkota.go.id) – Bhumandala Nawasena. That is the award received by Malang City from the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG). This award was received directly by the Acting Mayor of Malang Iwan Kurniawan, ST, MM at the 2024 Bhumanda Award event at the Grand Studio Metro TV, Jakarta, Monday night (4/11/2024).

This award was given as a form of appreciation for the consistency of the local government in realizing the integration of geospatial data information. Interestingly, this is the first time that Malang City has received a national-scale geospatial award. Therefore, the Acting Mayor of Malang when met after receiving the award admitted that he was grateful for the achievements of his staff.

The number one person in the Malang City Government also reminded us of the importance of data as a basic basis in determining policies. "Of course we should be grateful for this (award). The (Bhumandala Nawasena) award spurs our enthusiasm for the importance of data. Let's make it a foundation so that we don't make mistakes in making policies," he said.

Iwan said that the appreciation given by the Geospatial Information Agency was similar to the Anindhita Wistara Data award received by the Malang City Government some time ago from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of the Republic of Indonesia.

Quoting the statement of the Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian and what was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto when giving a speech at the 2024 Bhumandala Award, the Acting Mayor of Malang said that there is a correlation and relationship where data has a strategic position in various fields.

"Some time ago I received the Anindhita Wistara Data award, and today I received the Bhumandala award, which means the correlation is how we can provide and present data as well as possible and we can maximize it in Malang. Satu Data, "He explained.

"So if I interpret what the Minister of Home Affairs and the Coordinating Minister said, this can be our reference to continue to strengthen the data we have. This can be a bright future, where we can have integrated data and maps," he added.

Furthermore, Iwan hopes that local policies such as Malang Satu Data can provide a positive effect on Asta Cita which is being echoed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. Iwan hopes that from the data, Malang City has a role in the success of the national policy.

"Earlier, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy conveyed the President's targets related to economic growth. We are looking at it, one of which is data support. So I hope Malang Satu Data can have a role and contribute to the success of the President of the Republic of Indonesia's Asta Cita," he concluded.

The biennial BIG event was attended by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Deputy Minister of ATR/BPN, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Deputy Minister of PUPR, and Head of BIG Prof. Muh. Aris Marfai. Meanwhile, from Malang City, the Acting Mayor of Malang was present accompanied by the Head of the Communication and Information Service, Head of DPUPRPKP, and representatives of the Malang City Bappeda.
